Herzog & De Meuron Unveil Jade Signature Model

Pritzker prize-winning Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron have unveiled a model of Jade Signature, the luxury condominium Fortune International is developing in Sunny Isles Beach, at the project’s sales office, Curbed reported.

Here we have the first two floors of Jade Signature, the lower amenity level and the main lobby level. Three levels of parking are beneath, underground, and a spa level, below many residential levels, is above. The ground floor is infused with the tropical landscaping by Raymond Jungles.

The opulent structure is angled to enhance views south to the nearby pier, to capture winds coming off the gulf stream, and to give the pool deck direct light for more hours of the day, creating what developers call a ‘cone of light.’ Another pool sits to the south to capture light when the building finally swallows the sun.

“We wanted to do the most spectacular building possible in Sunny Isles, thinking it would be hard to find another site like it with 300 feet of oceanfront,” Edgardo Defortuna, Fortune’s chief executive, told The Real Deal in a June interview.

One of the more costly details is the three floors of underground parking. The Swiss architectural firm, bucking the South Florida condo-as-fortress aesthetic, wanted a seamless, open feel from sidewalk to lobby to sand and sea. And finally, many people who have been annoyed with Herzog & de Meuron’s affinity for raw concrete will be happy to know the whole tower will be covered in a very unique kind of white stucco.
