Built in 1938, 2111 S Flagler Drive is a fine example of an Art Moderne residence. Art Moderne emphasizes form and mass instead of ornamental detail. Horizontal lines and corner windows accent smooth flat curved walls. Hired by Doc and Vera Rinker, Maurice Fatio was specifically asked for a nautical theme to be introduced into the home's design, Nautical overtones are characteristic of Art Moderne architecture, which borrowed stylistic elements from steamships. The large curved front window and the opposite glass block window wall in the living room, the curved banister in the foyer, the art Moderne fireplace, and the glistening hardwood floors are important architectural elements in this historic El Cid designated contributing structure
